Nature Reserves

Highcliffe has more than 16 nature reserves, some of these are completely walk-in allowing residence and tourists to walk through and enjoy the native plants, flowers and animals. One of the most extensive nature reserves is Steamer Point which rolls over 32 acres. Another is Stanpit Marsh by Highcliffe harbour where you can stroll along and enjoy the beautiful coastal view.

Highcliffe is also situated next to The New Forest National Park providing an incredible area for walks and cycling or picnics and leisurely pub lunches.

Local Sites

Highcliffe also has its own cliff top castle, Highcliffe Castle offering stunning coastal views along with a glimpse of Highcliffes history. The castle is also home to an award winning cafe and restautant that can be enjoyed after a stroll around the grounds.

 

 

Local Cliffs

The local cliffs in Highcliffe are protected, as they contain hundreds of fossils from the Eocene period (40 million years ago). Although you aren’t allow to dig the fossils up, you are able to wander a long the coast and spot those which have risen to the surface.

Activities

Highcliffe Golf Course is located right on the edge of The New Forest where glimpses of the sea are possible through its canopy of trees. The New Forest is also a great place for walking, running and cycling with lots of routes marked out for all levels and abilities.

Sailing features heavily as its so accessible with local quays tucked all the way along the coast. There are a huge number of clubs which can also be joined, including an Anglers and small boat owners club and a yacht club.
