Last week Pennyfarthing Homes visited Verwood Concert Brass Band to donate £500 towards their Band Hall, which is in desperate need of repair due to cracks beginning to appear in the building – without maintenance, it will become unusable.

The Verwood Concert Brass needs to raise a large amount of money, £250,000, to fix their band hall which is in danger of subsidence.

Verwood Concert Brass has been a stalwart in the local community since it was established in 1864. The band has over 100 members and has a focus on encouraging young people to learn an instrument, bringing together people to enjoy playing in a band together. Without their band hall, the future of Verwood Concert Brass could be in jeopardy!

Helen Dunnings, Chair of Verwood Concert Brass, said: “We have been part of the Verwood community for more than 150 years providing the opportunity for players, from brand new starters of any age through to expert brass players, to enjoy making music together. In doing so we provide entertainment and support events in the local and wider community as well as compete at national contests. This is all in jeopardy as we need to save our band hall from subsidence, so crucial donations like this one from Pennyfarthing Homes will help us keep this valuable community asset going.”
