On the 9th of January Pennyfarthing Homes donated £2,500 to a New Forest based charity, New Forest Basics Bank (NFBB). The donation has gone towards the charity’s fundraising target of £16,000 to fill 650 food parcels for those who need it most within the community.

This donation will provide families and individuals with non-perishable food, personal hygiene items, toiletries and household essentials. The food parcels have sufficient supplies for one week for one person, this is then increased to cover the number of family meals for which a request is made for those requiring the essentials.

Throughout 2022 the NFBFB packed 5,140 food parcels which provided 107,940 meals to families, adults and children across the whole of the New Forest. Each food parcel contained enough food for 21 meals a week, to feed 7,742 adults and 5,247 children.

Oliver Stanley, Chair of New Forest Basics Food Bank, said: “It’s been a difficult year for so many people with food and energy prices impacting everyone. Helping to ease some of this for people is something we’re proud to do, as much as we wish our services weren’t needed. This significant donation from Pennyfarthing Homes goes such a long way to ensuring we can get food and other essentials to people in need across the New Forest.”
