Pennyfarthing Homes, the award-winning Hampshire-based housebuilder, has completed the purchase of the former Ringwood Brewery site, marking an exciting new chapter in the company’s continued growth and expansion. The significant acquisition will see the historic 1.88-acre site transformed into modern office and workspace accommodation and become Pennyfarthing Homes’ new headquarters in Ringwood.
A strategic move to support long-term growth
As a family-owned housebuilder with over 50 years of experience delivering high-quality homes across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, Pennyfarthing Homes has outgrown its current base in New Milton. The move to Ringwood forms a key part of the company’s long-term growth strategy, strengthening its presence in the New Forest and surrounding areas.
The former brewery site is ideally located on the Hampshire–Dorset border, within walking distance of Ringwood town centre and offering excellent access to the A31 and A338. The development will feature bespoke office spaces alongside storage and warehousing facilities, providing a flexible and future-proofed base for the business.
Reviving an iconic Ringwood landmark
The Ringwood Brewery has long held a special place in the town’s history. Originally put up for sale by Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (now Carlsberg Britvic), the underutilised site will now be given a new purpose as part of Pennyfarthing’s vision to revitalise and reinvest in the local area.
“We are proud to be breathing new life into an iconic local site that has been underutilised for several years,” said Mark Adams, Executive Chairman at Pennyfarthing Homes. “This redevelopment will not only provide Pennyfarthing with a new base that reflects our ambitions for the future, but it will also bring new jobs and energy to the local area.”
Supporting local businesses and job creation
In addition to creating its own headquarters at the site, Pennyfarthing Homes has completed the sub-sale of two of the warehouses to Brighter Productions, a leading event production company. Brighter Productions plans to refurbish and convert the buildings into a state-of-the-art headquarters, supporting further employment opportunities in Ringwood and the wider area.
Sean Tomkins, Commercial Director at Brighter Productions, commented that the move will enable the business to continue growing while staying rooted in the local community and making the most of the site’s unique character.
Carlsberg Britvic also welcomed the redevelopment, expressing confidence that Pennyfarthing Homes will ensure the site continues to make a positive contribution to Ringwood’s future.
Looking ahead
Work on the former Ringwood Brewery is anticipated to begin in 2026, with Pennyfarthing Homes and Brighter Productions relocating once redevelopment is complete. The project represents another important milestone in Pennyfarthing’s commitment to responsible development, regeneration of local landmarks and investment in Hampshire communities.
