Mark Adams | Executive Chairman
Mark began working for Pennyfarthing in 1986 and is one of the sons of Trevor Adams, the founder of Pennyfarthing.
In 2010 Mark gained a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management (Master’s Degree equivalent) from the Chartered Management Institute. He has a wealth of practical experience having worked in virtually every role within Pennyfarthing Homes.
Mark is a Commoner and owns many New Forest Ponies, he also owns a number of racehorses and takes part in the annual New Forest Point to Point, winning on more than one occasion. Away from the horses he helps run a boys’ football team, supports Southampton FC and enjoys a skiing holiday.
Matt Dukes | Managing Director
Matt joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2005 coming from previous positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, New Forest District Council, Chesterton International Property Consultants, King Sturge International Property Consultants.
He studied at Greenwich University (BSc Degree in Building Surveying), and had 2 years professional on the job training before passing the RICS Test of Professional Competence and becoming a Chartered Surveyor.
Matt owns a 1984 Porsche 911 – classic car and is a massive football fan, having played and managed Youth Teams, culminating in League & Cup double at U18 level and is now a Saints season ticket holder.
Danny Adams | Director
Danny is also one of Trevor’s sons and began working for Pennyfarthing in 1981 as a labourer during his summer Holidays.
Danny began his building career proper at Southampton Technical College before becoming a Site Manager for Pennyfarthing Homes and ultimately moving to Head Office where he oversees the Buying, Sales and Design Departments.
When not in the office, Danny is very active, playing football, riding horses, cycling, running, walking his dogs and visiting different parts of the world with his wife and family.
Tina Chalk | Sales Manager
With experience in the industry spanning over 20 years and previous roles working for Bovis, Linden Homes and Redrow, we welcomed Tina and her wealth of knowledge to Pennyfarthing Homes in May 2017 as Sales Manager.
In her spare time, Tina enjoys time in the garden, spending time with her family and remembering when she was fit enough to play tennis!
Steve Tyrell | Construction Manager
We welcomed Steve back to the team in 2017 as Construction Manager, following his previous role as a Site Manager in 1997. Steve left the company in 2000 to pursue a career as a building surveyor, gaining his chartered status with the RICS. His new career involved running his own professional practice to working on the largest land development project in the World in Dubai – quite the achievement!
Steve is a professional boxing coach which takes up a lot of his spare time along with his passion for motorbikes.
Andy Follett | Contracts Manager
Andy is one of Pennyfarthing Homes’ longest serving members of staff having joined us in 1998 as a Site Manager before progressing to Construction Manager. Prior to Pennyfarthing Homes, Andy worked for WJ Etheridge Plumbing and Heating.
Andy is a fully qualified City and Guilds plumbing and heating engineer.
When not at work Andy enjoys watching rugby and spending time with his family.
Quinton Hurdidge | Commercial & Procurement Manager
Quinton joined Pennyfarthing in 2003 as a Purchasing Manager from Parker Bath.
He has been a full member of the Chartered Institute for Procurement & Supply since 1999 and made his career in the manufacturing industry prior to joining Pennyfarthing.
Outside the office Quinton is keen on home refurbishment and improvement, plays golf regularly and enjoys family time.
Andy Hicks | Land Acquisition Manager
Andrew became Pennyfarthing Homes’ Land Acquisitions Manager in 2007 following a career as a managing partner at a local estate agents.
Andrew qualified in the 1980s as a chartered surveyor meaning that his career in property now spans nearly four decades.
Andrew loves football and all competitive sport and enjoys a game of golf at Barton Golf Club where he is a member.
Dermot Saunders | Finance Manager
Dermot joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2015 from JP Morgan Chase. Dermot’s career as a Chartered Accountant spans Ireland, Jersey and England.
With a primary degree in economics from Trinity College, University of Dublin, Dermot is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
As an avid Rugby Union fan Dermot can be found at numerous locations around the UK supporting Munster.
Sarah Moore | HR Manager & PA to the directors and Executive Chairman.
Sarah joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2003 when she moved to the New Forest. She previously worked in Human Resources for such varied companies as Superdrug, Motorola and, most recently, the National Trust.
Sarah is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
When not in the office Sarah loves both classic cars and sailing.
James McNeil | Senior Sales Negotiator
James joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2011. James studied Business and Finance in Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education before deciding, in 1994, to make a career in Estate Agency.
When not working James likes to sail and also makes an annual pilgrimage to the Le Mans 24 hour race.
Janet Weal | Sales Co-ordinator
Janet joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2007, bringing with her many years of experience in secretarial, administrative and PA roles.
Janet loves watching all sport, is a massive Liverpool FC fan and enjoys travelling abroad, especially to the USA.
Guy Peirson-Hagger | Strategic Planning Manager
Guy joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2016 from Goadsby where he established a planning consultancy from their Southampton office.
When not at work Guy can be found supporting Sutton Utd FC – his home town – or enjoying a good curry either home cooked or at a restaurant.
Nick Stone | Land Manager
Nick joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2010 following a career with Linden Homes Southern and Justin Developments.
Outside work Nick enjoys all types of music and also watches football although he has no specific allegiances.
Chris Van Essen | Technical Manager
Originally joining the company in 2004 as part of the design team, Chris has a fair bit of history with Pennyfarthing Homes. Delivering house designs up until 2012, Chris then took a 5 year career break to pursue his career as a Chartered Architectural Technologist, gaining experience in the commercial sector and working with large scale schemes such as Poole’s RNLI Boat Building Facility and project running two EFA national secondary schools.
Pennyfarthing Homes welcomed Chris back in April 2017 as Technical Manager.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys looking after his stubborn West Highland Terrier and playing 6 aside football. Chris also has a fondness for photography which he manages to squeeze in between his busy life schedule.
Gareth Greening | Project Surveyor
Gareth began his career in builders merchants working his way up and gaining a good understanding of the Construction industry. Achieving his HNC in Construction at McCarthy and Stone, Gareth later joined Murray Metals Group and gained experience working on huge projects to include the London 2012 Aquatics Centre, considered to be one of the most complex engineering challenges and also constructions for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Gareth joined Pennyfarthing Homes as Project Surveyor in June 2017 following 5 years at Glossbrook Builders Ltd, working across all aspects of the business from estimating to buying and surveying.
In his spare time, Gareth enjoys a round of golf and carp fishing along with spending time with his family and friends.
Greg Clarke | Project Surveyor
Greg joined Pennyfarthing Homes in May 2014 from Herbert H Drew & Son Ltd following a 30 year surveying career working for both small, local companies and large, national builders such as Barratt Homes.
Greg interests when not at work are walking his dog, playing golf, and spending time with his family.
Simon Trenchard | Project Surveyor
Simon joined Pennyfarthing in 2013 from Taylor Wimpey after a career with a number of developers, building contractors and specialist sub-contractors.
In his younger days Simon played rugby for both Wimborne and Bournemouth and is now a passionate supporter of Bath Rugby.
Nick Cummings | Customer Care Manager
Nick joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2013 after running his own building contracting company for many years. He gained an HND in Building Studies at Southampton University.
Nick spends his spare time watching football or doing DIY.
Sue Jennings | Customer Care Administrator
Sue joined Pennyfarthing Homes in 2012. She has a wealth of customer service and administrative experience having previously worked for Hampshire County Council.
Sue likes to keep fit and, when not inthe office, can be found either cycling around the New Forest or indulging in her passion for both Latin and Ballroom dancing.
