Vicki's journey to purchasing The Maplewood, Potters WoodFamily outside Milbury

Spaciousness and style

When beginning her house hunting journey, Vicki was looking exclusively at older properties on the presumption that purchasing a new build was an unrealistic prospect due to cost. However, after viewing one of the Maplewood homes at Pennyfarthing Homes’ Potters Wood development in Verwood, Dorset, Vicki jumped at the chance to buy one.

Vicki needed a larger house for her and her children to live and work. Having lived in the local area all her life, and with her family in the area too, she was adamant on staying local. Vicki was aware of the Potters Wood scheme, but hadn’t come across The Maplewood homes before, so when she saw one online and how competitive the price was, she knew she couldn’t miss the opportunity to view one, and the spaciousness convinced her it was her ideal new home.

Vicki explains why the space available in The Maplewood is so important for her and her family:

“When you’re working from home and have young children running around, the need for space becomes more apparent. The properties I was originally viewing weren’t nearly as spacious as The Maplewood is – in terms of storage I hadn’t realised quite how much the wardrobe in my bedroom could store.

A fresh start for the family

Purchasing a new build was an unfamiliar process for Vicki, but the knowledge that she and her family would have greater floorspace and that the property wouldn’t need any repair work were major benefits for Vicki. Furthermore, the help and guidance she received from the Pennyfarthing Homes team made the process much more manageable.

Vicki elaborates: “When purchasing a new build home there’s a lot of deadlines that you have to stick to, but Pennyfarthing Homes were there with me every step of the way. They were excellent at keeping me informed, speaking with various parties, such as solicitors and agents, to make sure I felt assured throughout the process. The level of service didn’t stop after the purchase was completed either – the aftercare service provided has been wonderful, I’m extremely grateful to the whole Pennyfarthing Homes team.

“However, one of the great benefits we’ve found in buying a new build home is that you’re starting a new community, and it feels good to be one of the first to move into the second phase of the Potters Wood development. There’s still some works going on nearby, but honestly, we’ve really enjoyed it as we’ve come from a property that was quite secluded. The kids love watching the workers come and go and have taken a great interest in what they’re doing.”

A high quality finish throughout

Beyond the floorspace on offer, Vicki was particularly attracted to the Maplewood and Potters Wood due to the quality of finish and the furnishings.

Vicki explains: The detail in the house is really well thought through – it has a satisfying consistency to it. The colour scheme, the furnishings in every room, everything is great. Having such a modern kitchen and bathroom is wonderful, and I wouldn’t have had the same quality had I moved into an older property – it’s a benefit that hadn’t really occurred to me until I viewed the house.”

Having lived in the area her whole life, Vicki has long been aware of the beautiful countryside that the locality boasts. Potters Wood has two tranquil forests – Ringwood and Burwood – right on its doorstep, and Vicki plans to make the most of with her children.

Big plans for the future

Vicki describes some of the plans she has in mind: “Now that we’ve moved in and are settled, I’m planning some days out to National Trust sites. We haven’t had the chance to go on an abundance of family trips in recent years, so I plan to make the most of the wonderful location and gorgeous scenery we have right next to us. I’m also planning on having some friends and family round for dinner so they have a chance to see our new home – I’m sure they’ll be surprised at just how many people we can fit in here!
