Even though the housing market is moving rapidly, the amount of time taken to exchange after a sale remains lengthy. Whilst finding a buyer might take less than a month, it often takes five to sign off the legal paperwork and hand over the keys.

Recent research by Zoopla has identified the time between putting a property up for sale and a move being completed is around six months. As a result, local housebuilder, Pennyfarthing Homes is advising buyers to think ahead when it comes to securing their dream home.

The firm, based in the New Forest in Hampshire, has recently launched its Buying Off Plan campaign which aims to highlight the benefits of buying your dream home now, rather than waiting.

Pennyfarthing offers an ‘Early Bird’ scheme where buyers can reserve their dream house for as little as £500, and crucially, it means they can look to the future, and start the process of selling their existing home, knowing their new one is under construction.

Buyers can cherry-pick the property that is just right for them at today’s prices, and then watch their new home taking shape, which can be tailored to their tastes from a range of options available.

There is the additional bonus that because the homes are new, there is no chain, and no need to wait for the existing occupants to move out.
