19 May First time buyers in rush to get on the property ladder as lockdown eases
As reported by The Times, estate agents and property websites have seen record numbers of first time buyers registering since the housing market reopened last week.
According to the UK’s largest estate agency group, Countrywide, first time buyers make up 44% of those searching for a property in April against 24% in the same month last year.
Online property portal Zoopla has also seen a rise in the first time buyer market with a 350% increase in those looking to get on the property ladder just last week alone.
In research for Hamptons International, Aneisha Beveridge commented, “For those who’ve still got their jobs, are working from home and have managed to save… it’s put them in a good position.”
